Classical Education...

“Because the classical educator believes in a real world that gives up ordered knowledge of itself, he teaches the student how to get that knowledge. The seven liberal arts were quite deliberately developed for precisely that reason. Believing that we can know truth, and believing that truth sets us free, classical educators spent thousands of years refining the tools of truth-seeking that were used from the beginning of time, but were first codified by Aristotle."

- Andrew Kern, in "What is the Difference Between Classical and Conventional Education”

The SchoolRun Learning Journey

The SchoolRun Learning Journey is for Primary School Students who receive instruction at home.  While this program can be used as a supplement for parents who send their children out-of-the-home for school, it can also be used as a curriculum addition to any homeschooling program.

While the program is not standards-focused for American public school students, the content provides basic building-blocks for students engaged in Maths, English, and Science.

If you are a homeschool parent, as I am, you know that there is no 'preset' standard for what your child is actively engaged in learning on a yearly basis.  Homeschooling is about progression.  Homeschooling focuses on learning the basics of a subject and advancing little by little at a student's intellectual pace.  Therefore, HOW a subject is mastered is not as important as WORKING toward mastering a subject.

I often enjoy exposing my homeschool students to assignments written from another English-speaking country's perspective: especially Great Brittain and Australia.  Often, a student will struggle with a concept presented in a textbook, yet when exposed to a new way to conceptualize the concept, a student will grasp what was intangible before to them.  This is why I use supplements from multiple sources--all written in English--to help my students grasp the basics of a given subject.

While I am not a subscriber to the full program, I have used their freebie-offers in the past.  Watch the video about the worksheet program below.  If the video does not play for you directly in this site, you can always go directly to YouTube to view the program content: https://youtu.be/aXOJ1VJsi-Q

TheSchoolRun's Learning Journey is a structured primary-school learning programme covering all the key topics children learn at school in maths, English, and science.
The introduction explains how it works and how to sign up for a trial.
